Farm Equipment Rentals

Outagamie County Land Conservation offers conservation & farm equipment rentals (a “try before you buy” option)

Want to plant trees, seed native habitat, or try new soil‑health practices—without buying expensive equipment? The Outagamie County Land Conservation Department offers an Equipment Rental Program with 15 pieces of conservation and farm equipment available at reasonable prices to Outagamie County residents.

This program is a great fit for farmers and large‑acreage landowners who want to protect land from erosion, improve wildlife habitat, and support healthier soil.

Best of all, trained staff can help you get the equipment set up and show you how to use it the right way.

What you can rent (and what it helps you do)

Here are a few examples of equipment available through the program:

  • For trees, habitat, and conservation projects
  • Tree planters (Green and Yellow) to help you plant trees in straight rows for quick forest establishment.
  • Grass seeder (Land Pride) to plant grasses and other seed mixes.
  • Mulch spreader to apply straw mulch quickly and evenly to protect new seeding.
  • Tree planting bars (deposit required, and you get it back when you return the bar).
  • Cultipacker/roller, crimper, push seeder, and Plot Master to help with good seed-to-soil contact and strong seeding results.

You can find descriptions of all available equipment on the Land Conservation webpage, so you can pick what fits your project.

For farmers: try soil-health equipment before you buy

If you’re interested in soil-health practices, renting can be a smart way to test equipment before you spend big money. The program includes innovative farm equipment such as:

  • a no‑till corn planter
  • a no‑till seed drill
  • low‑disturbance manure injectors

These tools can help reduce erosion to waterways and build healthier soil over time—while letting you see what works best on your farm.

How to reserve equipment

You have two easy choices:

What to know before pickup

To keep things simple and fair:

  • You must sign a contract and pay in full before taking the equipment.
  • If you want a tax‑exempt rate, you must submit a WI Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate with your paperwork.
  • Some equipment needs specific towing/hauling hookups (for example, certain items require a 2-inch ball hitch and a 4‑prong light plug).

Next steps

Check the Land Conservation webpage to read equipment descriptions and requirements.

Reserve early, especially during spring planting and seeding season.
