Supporting Families, One Feeding Journey at a Time
For a new parent, breastfeeding can come with a lot of questions.
Is my baby getting enough? Is this normal? What do I do when feeding becomes painful or frustrating? Who can I call when I need help?
For families across Outagamie County, our WIC team is there to help answer those questions — and now that work is being recognized nationally.
Outagamie County WIC has received a Gold WIC Breastfeeding Award of Excellence from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The award recognizes local WIC agencies that demonstrate outstanding breastfeeding promotion and support. Outagamie County was one of only four Wisconsin WIC agencies recognized in 2026.
This national honor reflects the work our WIC staff and breastfeeding peer counselors do every day to help families feel informed, supported, and confident in their feeding journey. That may mean answering questions, helping a parent work through a challenge, connecting families with additional resources, or simply being someone they can turn to when they need encouragement.
Breastfeeding looks different for every family, and there is no one-size-fits-all experience. Our WIC team meets families where they are and helps them work toward the feeding goals that are right for them and their babies.
The Gold Award is a wonderful recognition of that commitment — but the real impact can be seen in the families our staff supports every day.
