Open Records Request
The Outagamie County Sheriff's Office processes requests for reports and other records for which the Sheriff's Office is the legal records custodian. Requests will be handled in the order they are received, and are responded to as soon as practicable and without delay.
How to Obtain Reports
To request a copy of a report during regular business hours, phone (920) 832-5605 option 2. Requests can also be made in person at our office at 3030 E. Goodland Dr., Appleton WI 54911. The records unit is staffed Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The records staff will advise you when it will be available for pick-up (.25 per printed page), or it can be faxed, mailed, or emailed.
Please note:
The request must be reasonably specific as to the subject matter or length of time involved. It is "deemed sufficient if it reasonably describes the requested record or the information requested. However, a request for a record without a reasonable limitation as to subject matter or length of time represented by the record does not constitute a sufficient request (Wis. Stat. 19.35(1)(h). Any information asked for is provided on a voluntary basis.
The Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) prohibits the disclosure of certain "personal information" or "highly restricted personal information" which originates from a State motor vehicle record. Under current controlling law, disclosure of each item "personal information" or "highly restricted personal information" must be justified by the specific permissible use identified in the form below. Failure to provide such justification may result in redaction of the record requested. Such information shall not knowingly be disclosed or otherwise made available without the express consent of the person to who the information pertains or unless specifically permitted by the DPPA. For purposes of determining whether such information should be released or redacted, please complete and return this form below. (Medical and juvenile information may still be redacted in accordance with state statute and Outagamie County Sheriff's Office policy.)
