The Outagamie County Public Safety Communications Center is the initial point of contact for citizens in need of assistance. The Communications Division has 31 full-time Telecommunicators, four part-time Telecommunicators, four Sergeants (shift supervisors) and one Director. Telecommunicators handle 9-1-1 incoming calls, and radio traffic for police, fire and emergency medical services. 

The Communications Center dispatches:

  • 8 law enforcement agencies
  • 6 ambulance services
  • 23 fire departments
  • 12 first responder groups

Training:

Basic Certification training for Telecommunicators is a minimum of 40 hours, with an additional 24 hours of training required for certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD). All telecommunicators attend annual in-service training as well as continuing specialized training.
