Summer Adventures Await at Outagamie County Parks

June marks the start of the busiest and most exciting time of year across the Outagamie County Parks system. With school out and summer underway, families and residents are looking for opportunities to get outside, stay active, and connect with our parks and natural spaces. Our team has been hard at work preparing for a season full of activity, improvements, and community engagement.
Plamann Park continues to serve as a central hub for summer recreation. The lake officially opened for swimming on June 8 and will remain open through the end of August, offering a refreshing destination for families throughout the season. Come check out our ever expanding and changing WIBITs inflatable aquapark. The Children’s Farm is also welcoming visitors back with the return of animals and a renewed energy for summer.
We are also excited to announce the recent opening of our new dog park, Barks and Recreation. This new space provides a dedicated area for residents and their dogs to exercise, socialize, and enjoy the outdoors together. It is already proving to be a popular addition and reflects our continued effort to expand amenities that serve a wide range of park users.
We are making important investments in the future of the Children’s Farm. Construction is underway on permanent restroom facilities and a new reservable shelter designed to host birthday parties and small gatherings. In addition, a farm-themed playground is being developed to enhance the experience for children and families. While these improvements will be ready for the 2027 season, they represent a significant step forward in accessibility and visitor experience.
Across the county, our trail system continues to see upgrades and maintenance. Visitors will notice retention wall repairs and new signage for the “Loop the Locks” route along the CE Trail. A generously donated shelter is being installed at the Wiouwash Trail trailhead, and crews are completing flood repairs along the Newton Blackmour Trail to ensure safe and reliable access throughout the system.
Summer programming is also in full swing at Mosquito Hill Nature Center. Ecology camps are underway, providing hands-on learning experiences that connect youth with the natural world. Later this month, we will celebrate Pollinator Week, highlighting the important role pollinators play in our ecosystem—supporting nearly 75 percent of flowering plants and about 35 percent of global food crops.
In addition to daily recreation opportunities, June also marks the return of community events across our parks. Pints at Plamann kicks off on Tuesday, June 16, bringing together local beverages, food, and live music in a relaxed park setting. Additional dates are scheduled for June 30, July 14 and 28, and August 11 and 25, offering multiple opportunities for residents to gather and enjoy the park in a new way.
Recreation amenities continue to grow as well. Disc golf remains a popular attraction, and new pickleball and basketball courts at Plamann Park are set to open in the coming weeks, providing even more ways for residents of all ages to stay active.
