In accordance with Wisconsin Statute 979.01 and Health and Social Services 135, the Outagamie County Coroner's Office is responsible for the investigation of all reportable deaths that occur within Outagamie County. The Coroner's office works collaboratively with all law enforcement agencies and the District Attorney's Office in death investigation and will testify in court as necessary. The Coroner's Office is also responsible to investigate a death where a physician cannot or will not sign a death certificate and determine the final disposition on the corpse. All cremations and disinterment require authorization by the Coroner's Office according to Wisconsin Statutes. In the case of cremation, the Coroner's Office may request further investigation prior to final disposition. The Coroner's Office also acts as a resource to assist the family members in the grieving process by making appropriate referrals when indicated.
