CTH Z - CTH ZZ to Outagamie Road
08/14/2023
Project Description
This project is for design, right-of-way, and ultimate reconstruction of this segment of highway to current County highway standards. Federal funding has been awarded through the STP-Rural program for the eastern portion with the western portion being locally funded. Both segments will be combined into a single project for construction.
Project Status
The project is currently approaching the end of preliminary design. A Public Involvement Meeting will be held on February 2, 2023. Pending public input, the Environmental Document and Right-of-Way Plat will be finalized in Spring 2023 with final design to follow. Right of way acquisition is currently scheduled to begin in late 2023 with construction currently scheduled for 2025
Project Justification
Currently, County Z is a rural two-lane roadway with 3-foot wide gravel shoulders. The posted speed limit is 55 mph. The existing pavement is nearing the end of its useful life, as it is experiencing longitudinal and transverse cracking that has caused settling and poor ride quality. Steep, sub-standard ditch slopes exist throughout the project limits, creating potential safety issues. Poor drainage is present in several locations along the project. The proposed improvements will reconstruct County Z to address the deficiencies described above.
